CEO Series

Spring 2010 CEO Series

  • April.8: Bruce Barton of The Livingstone Corporation LLC will talk about running a company organized as a partnership, rather than having a single executive. Sometimes the best way to build a business is to define a niche that allows the company to function in cooperation with the big guys. Bruce Barton and his partners did this when they founded The Livingstone Corporation. The company works in partnership with the "big guy" in Christian publishing, Tyndale House, doing prepress (editorial, art and design) for the publisher. The partners’ business model quickly expanded beyond just editing specialty Bibles. In 1995, Livingstone added typesetting services; in 2000, graphic arts services; and in 2008, marketing and branding services. Livingstone offers creative and management skills to handle massive and varied projects for publishers. The company has grown to 17 employees, and has completed more than 150 specialty Bibles plus more than 400 trade books, devotionals, gift books, and curriculum products. Come hear how filling this unique business niche and running the business as an LLC partnership work for Livingstone. Register for April 8 at http://ceoseriesapr2010.eventbrite.com.
  • May 13: Judy Bryson, president and CEO of Pioneer Clubs, an international children's club ministry, works closely with the Pioneer Clubs board of directors and has served on boards of other not-for-profit organizations, so she knows quite a bit about what these boards should--and should not--do for the companies they serve. Register for May 13 at http://ceoseriesmay2010.eventbrite.com.
  • June 10: speaker and topic will be posted soon.
